The final (and much more appropriately named) Destruction show took place today. Michael Elgin, defending his IWGP Intercontinental title against Los Ingobernables de Japon leader and former IWGP Heavyweight champion Tetsuya Naito, headlined the show, though that wasn’t the only big news coming out of Kobe.
It's time to get BRAND EXCLUSIVE! Before WWE Clash of Champions, the Royal Grumble takes a trip back to the halcyon days of 2003 with the ORIGINAL Raw-only PPV, Bad(d) Blood! Expect belching, racism, pig pens and Mae Young (and that's only Daryl's weekend plans).
Plus, we give the lowdown on NJPW's awkwardly titled "Destruction In Hiroshima" event, Dave Meltzer goes all Brad Paisley 'Accidental Racist' on us and then there's the usual Dolph Ziggler fare. Well worth a listen, if only to find out the real definition of the word 'mark'... Yeah, did you cringe a little at that name too? It’s a dodgy one, but if you look past the name, what you got in content was the best NJPW show since the G1 finals. The second of 3 Destruction shows, (the write up of the previous one can be found here, the third and final show is this Sunday) NJPW are firmly on the road to WrestleKingdom. Here are your key talking points coming out of the show!
Back Ash, Turning the Paige and Punch-Punk Love... it's a proper Royal Grumble this week! Does Dean Ambrose ever wash? What do Doncaster Rovers have to do with CM Punk? And what of The Great British Conspiracy Theories? Some of these questions and more will be answered by your favourite UK-based wrestling-related podcasting trio this week. Tune in to find out which!
The first 'big' show really since the G1 Climax finals (if you dont count the Super J Cup, which was a Jr focused show) is in the books, and here are the main talking points from todays show.
Are you frustrated with WWE? Do you sometimes wish they would do things differently? Do you want your ideas aired? Well listen on, because The Royal Grumble is doing it for you! It's Main Event time as Dan and Daryl compete to discover who has the better vision for the future of This Business! Plus, Alberto del Rio El Patron hosts a press conference in an unusual location, SmackDown is a bit of a kick in the balls and we halfheartedly preview Backlash. Get in touch on Twitter at @RoyalGrumblePod and let us know what you think!
It's TIME! Blood, sweat and chat returns as the Royal Grumble return to the Octagon! In anticipation of MMA Phil's debut in UFC, we discuss the fairly mixed records of pro wrestlers in mixed martial arts, including Brock Lesnar, Shinsuke Nakamura and, er, Sean O'Haire... Also, we discuss Kevin Owens' ascension to the top and Graeme slates Dolph Ziggler (again). Round 2: Begin!
