Night 1 of the 2016 World Tag League took place and featured some great action, Before we get onto the results from Night 1, you can see the full show for free right now over at NJPWWORLD.com! Heres how night 1 went down. RUSH JOINS LIJ, TANAHASHI AND ROBINSON FALL ON NIGHT 1Rush, the founding member of the original Los Ingobernables, and the most hated man in CMLL was the mystery partner of Los Ingobernables de Japon leader Tetsuya Naito, and they started their WTL campaign picking up 2 points over Hiroshi Tanahashi and Juice Robinson. This was an Ok match that really picked up in the later stages, Rush fit right into the NJPW style with his stiff strikes, as well as the way he plays off Naito, these two could be a special team. The finish saw Rush lay out the Ace with a Rush Driver while Naito laid waste to Juice Robinson with the Destino to get the 3 count. Naito sent a clear message to Tanahashi in what will be one of their last truly competitive meetings before the Tokyo Dome. TENCOZY DEFEAT THE CHAMPSIn the match of night one, veteran tag team TenCozy (Tenzan and Kojima) defeated the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Champions Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga, and Tanga Roa) in a great contest. Tenzan seems to be riding a wave not too different to the one he found himself on in the G1, with fans desperate to see him and Kojima have one last run at glory. BULLET CLUB FALL TO NEWCOMERSThe Bullet Club didnt have the best of nights, with Chase Owens taking the fall a non-tournament Bullet Club vs CHAOS match earlier in the evening, Yujiro Takahashi was the man to fall foul of the debuting team from World League Wrestling, Brian Breaker and Leland Race. This match wasnt much to right home about, unless the impressive big man Brian Breaker was in the ring. Hangman and Takahashi worked over the son of Harley race until Breaker tagged in and cleaned house, eventually setting Leland Race up to hit his finish on the Tokyo pimp to start their campaign with 2 points. On a side note, Leland should ask his dad if he ever met Brian Breakers mum, maybe around 9 months before Brian was born, just saying. WAR MACHINE MAKE AN IMPACTNo team made quite the impression that War Machine made on night 1, defeating Henere and Nakanishi in a solid contest. War Machine went high impact early, hitting big double team moves to take out the veteran/student team. Nakanishi attempted to fight back but ultimatly his team were no match for the former ROH Tag team champions, who took him out, and then finished of Henere with the Fallout. Quite the debut for War Machine Come back for all the news from Night 2 of World Tag League tomorrow, featuring Block B teams.
